Recently we did a lab that involved a strip of Magnesium, oxygen, and fire. We went outside and watched Magnesium burn and react with oxygen. The strip made a very bright flame and left over a white ashy residue. The Magnesium and oxygen were the reactants, the heat was the energy, and the ashy residue was the product. It was a very interesting show. It produced MgO or Magnesium oxide.
