Magnesium Oxide Lab
Recently we did a lab where we had to use stoicheimetry to calculate the amount of Magnesium needed to create a chemical reaction. We needed to calculate grams to mols to mols to grams and it took a lot of work. We cut stips of Mg and placed them in a crucible. We placed the two over a bunson burner in order to heat the reactants and create MgO as a balanced equation. The goal was to get exactly .6g of MgO and my lab group had no errors.
