Balancing Chemical Formulas
In chemistry recently, we began balancing chemical formulas. The labs goal was to create nine different ionic compounds containing one type of cation and one type of anion. Each compound had the charges together so the positive charge would cancel out the negative charge and it would become a neutral compound. For some cases we had to use several of the elements to match the number of negative and positive charges. We made binary compounds such as calcium oxide, Sodium oxide, Aluminum nitride, Sodium nitride, and several others.
